Toxins and Cancer – Is there a link?
Today I really wanted to talk to you about the link between toxins and cancer. This link is something I knew about back in the 80s when I was fighting stage 4 melanoma. For decades, many in alternative medicine have known with certainty about the damage toxins do to our bodies.
But this link between toxins and cancer has never been given any amount of thought in standard Western allopathic medicine, most likely because they can’t make megabucks from IV metabolic therapies and diet. When it comes to cancer, Western medicine would still rather cut, burn and poison the affected area instead of treating the whole body.
Cases of Cancer are on the Rise
Why have cancer rates skyrocketed over the past 100 years? We have better sanitation, more people have access to healthcare, and we also know that exercise, diet and healthy lifestyle choices are key in staying disease-free. So what gives?
I know of people who don’t smoke, eat well, exercise, don’t do drugs, don’t have a major history of cancer in their family, and yet they still develop cancer. And they ask me, “Prue, what did I do wrong?”
The truth is, over the last 100 years, we have been exposed to more chemicals in our food and environment than at any other time in history. And no matter how hard you try to make healthy lifestyle choices, these toxic chemicals are still there, wreaking havoc on our health.
Common Sources of Toxin Overload
There are so many sources of toxins, I would be here all day listing them. But I do want to talk about some of the biggies, the common ones that most of us are exposed to on a daily basis:
Guess why more and more foods in the local grocery store have been genetically modified? Because big biotech companies make a killing (pun intended) financially. These GMOs come with major problems. In fact, even the FDA resisted them at first, until they were pressured into approving them by politicians who were in the pocket of these biotech companies!
While many study results have been repressed, for obvious reasons, there are some you can find that conclude eating GMO foods is harmful to health and can lead to abnormal cell growth.
We’re still trying to figure out the exact mechanism in these genetically modified foods, but so far is appears that certain “promoters” used in these foods can act like light switches in our body, permanently turning on genes that that may otherwise be switched off. This in turn may lead to poor health outcomes, like the development of pre-cancerous cell growth.
As just one example, milk from rbGH-treated cows contains higher levels of a hormone called IGF-1, and this is considered one of the highest risk factors associated with breast and prostate cancer.
BE AWARE ABOUT THE LINK BETWEEN TOXINS AND CANCER:
Foods are not required to be labeled as GMO foods. To stay clear of these dangerous foods, always make sure you eat organic food or food labeled specifically non-GMO.
Heavy metals get into our bodies through a variety of pathways. Many come from the environment, many more come from silver amalgam fillings. And while aluminum isn’t a heavy metal but classified as a light metal, it is found in a majority of vaccines and is known to have neurotoxic effects on the human nervous system. These metals disrupt our immune system, allowing disease like cancer to flourish in our body!
Here’s some irony for you. There are apparently pathogens in our water that can potentially harm us. But what they put in the water to “protect” you from these pathogens is even MORE DEADLY! How on Earth could anyone believe that drinking bleached water could be good for us?
We often look to the French to understand the paradoxes that surround their good health. They eat a lot of fatty foods and drink a fair amount of wine. Well, many fats, yes even the ones in cheeses, can be good for us, and the OPCs and Resveratrol in red wine have now become famous as potent antioxidants.
But here’s something else they do, or rather, don’t do: They do NOT drink chlorinated water. They instead ozone it to purify it.
The government officials who came up with the idea of chlorinating the water didn’t do so because it was safe, they did so because it’s cheap.
And now they sheepishly admit maybe chlorine wasn’t a good idea. According to the U.S. Council of Environmental Quality, “Cancer risk among people drinking chlorinated water is 93% higher than among those whose water does not contain chlorine.”
Essentially, when we drink chlorine, it combines with other natural compounds to form Trihalomethanes (chlorination byproducts), or THMs. These chlorine byproducts trigger the production of free radicals that cause cell damage and are highly carcinogenic.
And it’s not just drinking it that is a problem, bathing in it is also harmful as our skin easily absorbs chemicals.
My Final Thoughts
As I said, this is just a partial list. These toxins are everywhere, in our shampoos, lotions, cleaning supplies… you NAME it!I encourage you to pay better attention to the foods you eat and the everyday items you use. Go organic and use natural personal care items that are free from harmful chemicals. READ LABELS! You must these days.
Filter your water. If you can afford it, get a whole house filter so you aren’t bathing in chlorinated water. Regularly detox your body to remove heavy metals. There are natural products like Zeolite and colloidal silver that bind to toxins. Taking activated charcoal can then also help get these bound toxins out of your system.
Milk Thistle is great at restoring the health of your liver, which is responsible for removing toxins from the blood. If you’ve never done a liver cleanse, I encourage you to.
