Epigenetics is a surprising scientific discovery that is proving more and more just how powerful we are and how we can heal from disease. When you truly understand how this works and are willing to participate in your healing, you will want to continue turning on your good genes. The Science of Epigenetics: How your genes are expressed is determined by what you eat, think, the amount of toxicity you have been exposed to and what supplements you take. All of these factors have a significant effect on your health. Depending on the information you feed your genes directs the gene to turn on or turn off, and this dictates your susceptibility to disease. If you have a predisposition to a particular illness, you do not have to get this disease. You can change your destiny by giving the right information to your genes by changing your thoughts, your nutrition, your emotions, and your lifestyle.

If you live in harmony with your mind, body, and emotions, you influence your genes to keep you healthy and change your genetic disposition. Your physical wellbeing is affected by your attitude: thought process, belief systems, and philosophy on life. You need a healthy philosophy with rituals that you do every day to heal your life.

Having lived with cancer, I know just how much it affected my whole health – my mind-body and emotions. Every part of you is connected and influenced by how you live your life. Your body is continually healing, so if you change your lifestyle, you speed up and support your body’s innate healing mechanisms. Traditional medicine is about suppressing your symptoms. Drugs can make you feel better temporarily, but they won’t help you discover the underlying cause of your illness. In fact, they are working against your body’s natural healing process and harming your immune system.

I teach in my comprehensive 6 module Prue’s “Save Your Life” Program that we should never mention the name of your disease – the medical name your doctor gave you when you were first diagnosed. When you label your condition and keep speaking about it over and over again, it has an adverse effect on your mind, emotions, beliefs, and feelings about your illness. Prue’s “Save Your Life” System helps you find the underlying reasons why you got sick in the first place and help you remove contrary obstacles and start healing from within.

Your body is regularly sending you messages and trying to heal, but when it gets overloaded with toxins both physically and mentally, it breaks down and causes illness.

When the engine light in your car comes on, what do you do? Ignore it and hope it goes away? No, you take the vehicle immediately to your mechanic to find the root cause so it can be fixed. Well, the same goes for your physical body.

I know you’ve had signs before your diagnoses. I certainly did, and I didn’t take any notice because I wasn’t genuinely aware I could do anything about it. I thought it was just the way I had to live my life, or it was my family history – my genetics!

Now that we can’t blame our family and our genes let us understand what we can do to help our bodies heal by using the power of our mind.

Identify Those Things You CAN Control

There are a lot of things about the holidays that are out of your control. You will most likely hear other people cheerily talking about their holiday plans and you’ll be bombarded with Christmas music pretty much everywhere you go.

But there are some things you can control that will help you lessen your pain and grief. For instance, if you live alone and don’t feel like decorating your house or a tree this year, that’s okay, you don’t have to do it. If you want to avoid crowds and do minimal shopping online, then that’s what you need to do.

Don’t focus on what you can’t control and instead identify those things you CAN control during the holidays.

Say “NO” When You Need To

There were times during my treatment when I knew I absolutely could not be around anyone. I just didn’t have it in me. And then there were times when I thought I didn’t have it in me, but I pushed myself to be social anyway, and being around friends and loved ones made me feel better and brought me out of my funk.

You need to know what you need in the moment. If you KNOW you are in too dark of a place and you need to be alone and quiet, then say NO to those holiday parties and get togethers. But if you check in with yourself and you don’t get a resounding NO but more of a, “Mmm, I don’t know, I don’t really feel like it…” then it may be if you give yourself a little nudge, you’ll wind up having a good time that LIFTS YOUR SPIRITS!

It’s the holidays and everyone seems to be in such good moods, and you hate to spoil the fun with your darkness. You don’t want to feel dark; you want to feel like everyone else seems to.

Denying feelings is an impulse for many (if not most) people. But it’s not healthy and it will truly only make things worse. When we don’t process our feelings, they tend to linger.

Everything seems to move in slow motion, people have plastered smiles on their faces, holiday music seems to play from every corner of the Universe, and all you feel like doing is crying.

You are not alone during this time. Sadly, there are many people who are facing loneliness, grief and depression during the holidays.
While there is no magic wand or silver bullet that will make the pain go away, there are some things I have found that make coping a little bit easier:
